RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Machining & MFG Engineering Lead will be responsible for leading all precision machining activities, including programming, development of machining fixtures, prototyping, tooling and equipment selection and purchasing, CNC and manual milling and lathe operations, and finishing machine operations.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Self-starter – ability to work with minimal supervision
- Expertise in reading and interpreting technical drawings
- Ability to operate all machine shop equipment and effectively employ measuring tools and gauges
- Ability to program in CAM software
- Safety and 5S mindset to drive responsibility/accountability amongst team
- Improve upon the existing knowledge level of team members by providing knowledge and training to increase skill level.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Planning and scheduling of all machining operations
- Ensure maintenance of production tools and equipment
- Collects machine shop metrics such as machine utilization and scrap rates; collaborates with Production Manager to improve key performance indicators
- Support the expansion of the Rough Country Machining operation to a fully utilized three-shift operation
- Managing and Measuring Work
- Multi-task capable to driving multiple projects/tasks at the same time.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ten years of experience as a machinist or programmer in a precision machine shop
- Basic Microsoft Office skills (specifically MS Excel)
- Familiarity with SAP/ERP systems
